orsons: New York, 1919: James Cagney (third from upper left) in drag for his first stage role in the play Every Sailor I’d always heard Cagney did drag on-stage in his early years, but I had no idea there was a picture. This in no way diminishes him as one of our great tough guy actors. In fact it makes it better.
